Notorious premiere New York

1xtra covered the Notorious Premiere.....Peep below........

"Hah, sicka than your average..."

"It's easy to see why Brooklyn-based rapper Jamal Woolard got the lead role. He and the cast of Notorious were in New York for the film's world premiere. The biopic tells the story of the late great Notorious BIG who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in March 1997."

"To all the ladies in the place..."

"No points for guessing who Naturi Naughton plays on screen. The actress is a dead ringer for Kimberley Roberts aka Lil' Kim. Biggie took Lil' Kim under his wing and the two formed the Junior M.A.F.I.A crew along with Lil' Cease. Lil' Kim didn't attend the premiere. It’s claimed she's less than happy about how she comes across in the flick."

"Je-sus, the Notorious just..."

"The stunning Antonique Smith was put in charge of playing Biggie's widow Faith Evans."

Graffiti Style Louis Vuitton Storefront

I'm quite into this, I wonder how long it will stay like that as it's quite a statement for Vuitton. They will try allsorts though I suppose........

'Honoring the late, great Stephen Sprouse and his upcoming tribute collection designed by Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs, the Louis Vuitton store in SoHo has plastered a gargantuan print across their storefront. The display can surely be attributed to the mass influence graffiti holds in the world of fashion.'

'On a side note, Deitch Projects will be holding a show in collaboration with Louis Vuitton, premiering this Friday January 9th, 2009 in celebration of the Stephen Sprouse collection.'

Vivienne Westwood plans Sex and the City sequel

Vivienne Westwood plans Sex and the City sequel

Dame Vivienne Westwood, the British fashion designer, wants to write the next Sex and the City film.

By Ben Leach
Last Updated: 5:25PM GMT 07 Jan 2009

'The 67-year-old has even written to the show's producers to ask them to use her plot for the sequel, it has been reported.

A source told the Independent newspaper: "She's been obsessed with the film ever since she was in it. She has even put in calls to [the lead actress] Sarah Jessica Parker about it."

Dame Vivienne designed the wedding dress in which Jessica Parker appeared in the film and also wrote a note that was used in the marriage scene.

And when the film was released last year she publicly criticised stylist Patricia Field's clothes designs.

She said: "I thought Sex And The City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw.

"I went to the premiere and left after ten minutes."

A spokesman for Dame Vivienne said that the production company not yet taken her up on the offer.

He said: "We haven't had any news about it yet. So we don't know what's happening."

The first Sex and the City film certainly did not Dame Vivienne's help. It grossed more than £300million worldwide.' Via The Telegraph

Come on.........It would be amazing if Vivienne took the reins of SATC, I mean Patricia Field did a good job, but there aint nothing wrong with fresh eyes! VW would totally sex it up, she does erotic well!!

What will Mrs Obama wear to the Inaugural Ball?

Will Michelle Obama wear a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund designer to the Inaugural Ball?

This is a very important day, and you don't want to be looking toe up. Michelle needs to make sure that she looks amazing, and I am sure she will represent. I am not too sure about these designs though........I mean I can see her looking good in the dress by Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, Vena Cava + Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Marchesa.

I think the rest are too boring/sexy for Mrs Obama, she is the first lady after all. We don't need to be seeing her thighs and lower back, but at the same time she doesn't need to completely cover up.

"On the campaign trail, the newly minted fashion icon Michelle Obama was known for supporting up-and-coming designers like CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund participants Thakoon and Jason Wu. Wondering if she would continue with that trend, we asked some of the previous Fashion Fund designers what they think the new First Lady should wear on this very historic day."

Here are the sketches they shared with Vogue.....

Alexander Wang
2008 Fashion Fund Winner

"It's sexy but sophisticated…business in the front, party in the back. It is the inauguration ball!"

Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, Vena Cava
2008 Fashion Fund Runner-Up

"We would love to see Michelle in this floor-length gown made out of silk and polyester twill in one of our signature prints. It has a classic silhouette that feels very current with an all-over print. With the current economy, it would be very cool of her to wear a contemporary-priced designer to the inaugural ball."

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Marchesa
2006 Fashion Fund Nominee

"For the ball Michelle should wear this ivory one-shoulder silk crepe column with draped overlay and crystal hand-embroidered bodice."

Derek Lam
2005 Fashion Fund Runner-Up

Nile green crepe asymmetrical one-shoulder draped gown with a simple black satin belt at the waist.

Doo-Ri Chung, Doo.Ri
2006 Fashion Fund Winner

"The inauguration will be a historic occasion, so I wanted the dress to be something in her comfort zone. I stayed with the tailored, fitted silhouette that she prefers but used a print that I felt was celebratory."

2 less for NY Fashion Week

Monique Lhuillier, spring 2009

"And then there were … two less. Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson, and Carmen Marc Valvo have opted out of Bryant Park runway shows, and now Monique Lhuillier and Naeem Khan have decided to do the same in favor of presentations. Paul Wilmot, whose PR firm represents both designers, said the moves aren't even about saving a quick buck. In fact, Wilmot said the designers might not spend any less money. Apparently they just want to "shake things up a bit." But is this change we can believe in? “Before, there’s that one degree of separation — the press and the buyers get a different sense of the clothing when they’re flying past you on the runway as opposed to being able to stand next to them and having the fashion designer talk about the clothes,” Wilmot says.

Excellent point & presentations could be a better sales strategy. But are they the future while runway shows merely walk the path to Obsolete Park? As Cathy Horyn noted a while back, shows aren't even necessary these days. Anyone can look at the clothes online minutes after they end, and the only function the shows seem to serve is to preserve the egos of the people with the good seats (i.e., that episode of the Real Housewives of New York where Jill storms out of the tents because Ramona got a front-row seat while she got a second-row seat). So bring on the presentations and force the important people to mingle with the lowly bloggers like us. Come fall 2009, everyone's front row!" by Amy Odell

Air Max 90 - Valentines Day

MMMMmmmm, heart much! So if I was into Valentines day, (which when your single is the most bullshit day), I would totally be wanting these as a gift from my man coz they are hot like fire!

"The sneakers are made up in mostly varsity red with white on the sole, midsole and mesh heel. Though it may not look like a women’s sneaker because it lacks the traditional pink or hearts found on most V-Day themed shoes, this Air Max 90 will only be released in women’s size." Via Sneaker Files

A Tribe Called Quest x Air aJordan T-shirts

"Leading up to the release of the A Tribe Called Quest x Air Jordan I (1) “Sole 2 Sole” High Strap Premium Quickstrike are two new Jordan Brand t-shirts revolving around the group’s Midnight Marauders album cover." Via Sneaker Files

Feautured on the shirt is the classic Jordan logo filled in with the typical ATCQ afro-centric colours. Below we can see all the different faces of Michael Jordan, staying true to the design of the original cover.

Ms Dynamite

I just had a flashback, you know, one of them ones were your like oh shiiiiiiiii.........wha'pen???

I have heard that she's working in the background, not sure what that will be saying, but she did murk it back in the day.........reminisce on the love we had!

D-ba-di the Dynamit-e

This version is a bit extra, doesn't have the classic "Fuck u up like we was cocaine" oh no its edited, hard. And I'm sure I remember the beat being a bit more grimy. In fact I think I had it on some Pure Garage CD where they mash it all up.....

Style notes: Lovin' the hair, in fact I like everything she has going on in this video.

I did bump this tune for way too long when I was at college, reminds me of the summer working as a cleaner in a private girls school! JOY!

Style notes: I'm not gonna lie, back in the day I loved everything she was wearing. I even tried to make a top out of shredded denim! It looked dope at the time. (bearing in mind this is over 6 years old!!)

House of Ninja

Nothing is tickling my fancy today, so lets take it back! Feautured below is a video from the boomtastic film Paris is Burning. Check out king Voguer Willi Ninja doing his thang!

Amy Winhouse for Fred Perry??.....

Amy Winehouse wearing the Jonathan Kelsy Heels last May

I had to put this up here, because I do love Amy, and think she could do good things in fashion if this is for real and she can stay sober, otherwise it would be tragic, because a lot of celebs rely on stylists. If Amy's style is genuine and here to stay then I'm all for it. But if it was just a phase whilst dating that wasteman and being a Camdenite, then it will be shit! She has already lost the beehive, as you may have seen recently in the papers, she is on holiday being a bit mash up still........let's see wha gwan

The Fashion Winehouse

05 January 2009, 10:07AM

SHE has stepped out of the line of paparazzi fire recently but after the annus horribilis that was 2008, word has it that Amy Winehouse is preparing to make a spectacular public comeback - as a fashion designer.

According to the tabloids, the Rehab singer let slip during a festive holiday that she is currently in negotiations with iconic British label Fred Perry and has already started sketching out a few of her ideas.

"She was almost childishly excited and couldn't stop talking about it," a source told The Sun.

She may have spent 2008 beset by personal problems but for some, a Winehouse foray into fashion could seem overdue; not only did her distinctive look dictate the styling of Karl Lagerfeld's Paris-Londres Metiers d'Art collection for Chanel in 2007 but Roberto Cavalli has previously declared her "a fashion icon because she is unique", and London-based footwear designer Jonathan Kelsey created a stiletto, the Amy, in her honour - which she was promptly photographed wearing.
