Christian lacroix

"The commercial court in Paris placed Christian Lacroix into administration for a period of six months yesterday.
It remains unclear whether the couture house will show at the next Haute Couture fashion week in Paris which takes place July 6-9.
Last week Christian Lacroix said it planned to file for bankruptcy protection after it was hit by falling sales.
Christian Lacroix himself, who set up the label in 1987, is reported to have said he will give “200%” to keep the fashion house running. Reports suggest that the designer is owed around €1.2 million (£1m) by the company."*

Alternative Miss World 2009
As Brian Eno once remarked,‘The Alternative Miss World should be entered for the Turner Prize!’
The event that brought Leigh Bowery to London, that intrigued artists from Brian Eno to David Hockney, that has attracted fashionistas from Zandra Rhodes to Ryan Styles - The Alternative Miss World - a beauty contest like no other – ricochets back into the limelight for its 12th outing since 1972 at London's premier venue The Roundhouse on Saturday May 2nd 2009.
Artist Andrew Logan's Crufts-inspired competition thrusts 20 hard-core exhibitionists, including head-hunter Janet Slee, Gallery owner Matthew Flowers, club phenomenon Daniel Lismore & milliner Piers Atkinson, onto the stage to compete through Daywear, Swimwear and Eveningwear for the ultimate accolade; the coveted title of The Alternative Miss World. Judged on poise, personality and originality by a panel of the ruthless crème de la crème of the creative world, contestants pull every trick in the book to gain attention, favour and those all-important votes. Past competitors have included Jubilee's Jenny Runacre, Norman Rosenthal in Sarah Lucas, 80 year-old Russian Pani Bronua and ‘Transformer’ Burnel Penhaul. Expect cross-dressing, nudity, absurdity, art, gigantic looks, mechanical costume, raw sexual energy, laughter and shock!

Ananas Store Opening
The Store:
New York, March 17, 2008 – For the first time, Ananas Collection, the best-selling line of handbags from New York, is opening a permanent store at 248 Elizabeth Street in New York’s NoLita neighborhood.
Following the success of the second Ananas pop up store, which ran at the location from February 25th to March 15th, designer Jennifer Baum Lagdameo has decided to keep and officially open the label’s first Manhattan store. Lagdameo is thrilled to offer loyal Ananas fans an entire Ananas shopping experience, housed at a premiere New York shopping destination.
The Designer:
Brooklyn based Jennifer Lagdameo launched Ananas in 2004. The line of vintage-inspired handbags is hand made in New York City. With a signature printed lining from a photograph Lagdameo took in Paris, many Ananas handbags combine rich Italian leathers with natural embellishments and customized wooden hardware from the Philippines. In support of this area of the world and its precious natural resources, Ananas has teamed up with the organization “Trees for the Future” (www.plant-trees.org), a non-profit organization that restores tree loss to areas most affected by de-forestation. For each bag purchased from Ananas Collection, a tree in planted in the Philippines. For each bag purchased from Ananas’ eco-collection (collection made entirely from natural materials) 10 trees are planted in the Philippines. Celebrity fans of the label include Anne Hathaway, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner and Meg White of the White Stripes.
